Office Desk Exercise
More and more people are choosing occupations that leave them sitting behind a desk and staring at a computer screen for long hours at a time. While these jobs may represent a step up in pay, the lack of physical movement can be a strain on the overall health of the person. Anyone working in this environment will need to become acquainted with some simple exercises that can keep their metabolism high and productivity at optimal levels.
The simple truth is that sitting at a desk all day and staying in that working environment is a recipe for disaster. However, there are some other options. One current trend is to create a standing desk that can force a person to avoid the sedentary act of working at a standard desk. For those that are not yet ready to get out of the chair, the other solution is to simply find a better chair and desk. There are several models available that take into account modern working situations and provide plenty of support to the back. In some cases, an employer will let a person choose the chair they want or reimburse the costs of building a better office.
As far as office exercises go, a small cubicle or office may not be the best location, but there are still some easy exercises that can be done. Squats require only minimal space and are an excellent way to get the blood pumping after a few hours of staying in the same position. Bringing an exercise mat to work can be beneficial for a person that would like to squeeze in sit up or push up reps between work tasks. A number of recent studies have shown that work productivity is actually higher when a person takes exercise breaks and many employers are starting to provide fitness equipment in the office to accommodate employees that would like to increase their physical movement at the workplace.
